Julie Huang

Julie Huang studied biology and chemistry as an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, PA, USA). She obtained a Ph.D. in Cell and Developmental Biology from the Biological and Biomedical Sciences program at Harvard Medical School (Boston, MA, USA) and completed post-doctoral research at Harvard and Mass General Hospital (Boston, MA, USA). Currently, Julie is a lab director in the Department of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School. Her scientific endeavours have spanned a wide range of fields, including cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and genomics, organic chemistry, and biophysics.
Julie’s interest in becoming a trainer developed from a desire to promote the application of leadership and management skills in academic research settings. Her experience in management-level activities includes designing laboratory space, setting up new labs, planning budgets, and hiring. She has supervised, trained, and mentored post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students, and research technicians. Julie also has extensive experience in grantsmanship as a writer and advisor on US government grants (NIH/NSF) and post-doctoral and graduate student fellowships.
